Lift Your Expectations
Whether you're disappointed you don't look the way you feel or are trying to look your best for the next phase in life, Dr. Brobst can help you meet your goals. We understand that in both employment and relationships, we all want to look great. However, the face and neck skin are prone to aging. This is a result of exposure to the sun, advancing age, heredity, gravity, stress, and other environmental factors.
Even if you lead a healthy life, your skin will still likely show the effects of these variables and start to seem older and more fatigued. Rhytidectomy (the medical term for facelift surgery) is a cosmetic technique that helps the face appear younger and more rejuvenated. Fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, jowls, marionette lines, nasolabial folds, and hollows under the eyes can all be reduced with a facelift. Plano's Dr. Robert "Bo" Brobst is a board-certified facial plastic surgeon with an expertise and passion for his craft. This allows him to provide beautiful results that will bring out your true beauty. We encourage you to come in and start a conversation to find out how Dr. Brobst's methods can wonderfully repair what years of stress and time have taken away.
Restore Youthful Volume
a surgical procedure used to improve the appearance of the face
A facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure used to improve the appearance of the face by tightening and repositioning the skin and underlying tissues. The procedure is typically recommended for people who have sagging or drooping skin on the face, neck, or jowls and want a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. A facelift can improve the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, restore lost facial volume, and create a more balanced and harmonious facial appearance.
Hyaluronic acid, the primary ingredient in dermal fillers, stimulates collagen formation while also plumping the skin. Utilizing a different method, wrinkles in the upper face can be reduced using neurotoxin (i.e., Botox). These specifically target frown lines between the brows, forehead lines, and crow's feet around the eyes. Performed alone or in addition to injectables, a facelift can address sagging skin, jowling, loose facial muscles, and wrinkles. If you have severe wrinkles and drooping skin, a facelift is a better option and will do more for your appearance than cosmetic injectables alone.
No significant downtime is associated with Botox or dermal fillers, and the results of most fillers will be seen immediately. Moreover, you don't usually need to take time away from work or regular activities to achieve remarkable outcomes with injectables. Occasionally, swelling or a bruise can result but is short-lived. Alternatively, surgical recovery might vary from weeks to months, but the results of a facelift usually result in improvements lasting for a decade or longer.
Dr. Brobst is a lifelong learner who is always discovering and perfecting new and better ways to improve his craft. As important as great surgical results, we take pride in the perioperative experience and treating you like family.
A Rejuvenated You
The ideal candidate for this commonly performed procedure is someone that has been bothered for some time by changes to their lower facial and neck contours. The profile demonstrates fullness under the chin, muscle bands in the neck, and loose skin throughout. Looking straight ahead, descending cheeks and jowls take the attention away from a smooth jawline. Correction can make an impressive, long-lasting, and natural improvement.
Some of the most appealing benefits of a facelift include:
The specific benefits of a facelift will vary depending on the individual's goals and the particular technique used by the plastic surgeon. It is always best to consult with a qualified plastic surgeon to discuss the potential benefits and risks of the procedure and determine if it is right for you.
Learn about your options
Your facelift consultation is centered around discovering what you see is needing enhancement or improvement. Dr. Brobst conducts all of his consultations in his office with his welcoming team. There, he will listen to your goals and educate you on all of the options available to you that will fit your needs, time, and budget. Our goal is to yield the best results possible within these parameters.
Improved Contours
Facelifts and necklift can be performed under local, sedation, or general anesthetic. This is determined by the extent of the operation required to accomplish your goals. Management of the neck is performed through a small incision under the chin. This allows for a conservative removal of excess neck and jowl fat (liposuction), re-approximation of the loose neck muscles (platysmal bands), and re-draping of the excessive neck skin. To improve looseness and sagging of the cheek skin, incisions are made around the ears. The supporting, deeper tissues are re-suspended into a more appropriate position allowing improved contour and simultaneously alleviating any skin tension. Skin tension is the source of scarring, ear malposition, and poor longevity of the results. Our technique focuses on meeting your goals with a natural, not-overdone look that lasts for decades to come. We expect the scars to be well camouflaged and nearly invisible. Once both sides are completed, a head dressing is applied for overnight wear. After awakening from anesthesia and confirming your comfort, you will be able to go home in the care of a responsible adult.
Improve your confidence
The morning after the procedure, you are evaluated in the clinic, and all bandages are removed. Everything is carefully inspected, and minimal wound care is performed and demonstrated. Like any surgery, some degree of post-operative swelling is normal and responds well to a cool compress, head elevation, and light activity. Pain is not a usual part of the recovery, but tightness is expected at first and expectantly relaxes during the following weeks.
After a week, almost all sutures are removed, and the majority of bruising is gone from the face. Patients driving from far distances or flying in for surgery should make arrangements to stay in town for a week. Usual skincare and makeup can be worn ten days after the procedure. With the exception of overly rotating or extending the neck, many activities can be restarted after two weeks. The final contours will improve as swelling resolves over the first couple of months.
It’s essential to make it to your follow-up appointments so that Dr. Brobst can check in on your healing progress. Dr. Brobst will also provide instructions to maintain your facelift results as long as possible. We frequently utilized other aesthetic modalities to optimize the aesthetic result. Scarring is inevitable and unavoidable after a facelift. This is common to all surgery, but any incisions are usually well concealed by the hairline and anatomic facial boundaries. Dr. Brobst will precisely choose where and how to make incisions to keep scarring to a minimum. The foundation of a good result comes from a tension-free, layered skin closure. Postoperatively, we follow the incisions closely and intervene whenever necessary to optimize healing for the best possible result.
Average Cost: $12,400
Range: $2,800 - $22,000
A facelift can be performed under any level of anesthesia, from local to general anesthesia, with comfort and safety driving the final decision. Most commonly, you will be asleep and free of l any pain during the procedure. After the surgery, you may experience some discomfort and swelling, but this is typically mild and can be managed with Tylenol alone. Occasionally, additional pain medication is requested and prescribed on an as-needed basis. The bigger challenges of recovery include sleeping position, driving limitations, and the gradual progressive return to all preoperative activities.
