Changes You Look Forward To
Changes to our skin's appearance are a natural consequence of becoming older. As we become older, we struggle with a variety of cosmetic difficulties, such as wrinkles, sagging skin, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation.
At Brobst Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics in Plano, TX, Dr. Robert “Bo” Brobst uses a Erbium:YAG Sciton laser skin resurfacing and profractional process to reduce the signs of aging by revitalizing your skin, leaving a younger, healthier look.
A More Beautiful You
Laser and light sources offer a wide array of treatment benefits but are highly specific to the laser used. Most skin resurfacing uses carbon dioxide (CO2) or erbium lasers due to the affinity for water in the skin. These can be used to treat skin surface irregularities in a complete manner (full ablation). Uneven skin thickness, wrinkles, benign lesions, and precancerous skin lesions are frequently treated in this manner. In a partial manner (fractional ablation / fractional non-ablation, deep channels are created with untreated skin between. This allows the collagen and elastin in the skin to be addressed in an attempt to improve skin wrinkles, create tightening, improve scars, and tighten pores. The uninjured skin allows for rapid healing of the wounds and less downtime. In capable hands, these treatments can be combined to maximize the results.
The care you get at Brobst Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics is unrivaled from the time you walk in the door. From your welcome to your consultation and procedure, Dr. Brobst and his staff create a warm environment that is centered around meeting your needs and exceeding your expectations. Whether it’s laser skin resurfacing or rhinoplasty, you are treated like family.
Even Tones and Textures
The use of laser energy to resurface the skin is known as laser skin resurfacing. Acne scars, sun damage, uneven skin tone, fine lines, and uneven skin texture are just some of the skin issues that this may help with. Laser skin resurfacing can help with fine lines and wrinkles, as well as smooth out rough or uneven skin. Acne scars and other scars might be less noticeable after laser skin resurfacing, and the skin's suppleness will be enhanced, giving you a more youthful appearance overall. In order to lessen the visual impact of hyperpigmentation or patches of skin that is noticeably darker than the rest of the skin, laser skin resurfacing can be used. In order to achieve a more youthful appearance, laser skin resurfacing can be used to tighten and lift the skin.

First, the facial skin is cleaned of makeup and prepared for the procedures. Eye protection is always used for safety, and the skin is treated in a methodical way to the appropriate depth. In deeper procedures, facial blocks and other forms of pain relief are considered to maximize comfort during the procedure. However, most discomfort is brief and does not require ongoing measures after the procedure.
Reverse the Damage
For superficial resurfacing, sun avoidance, and basic skin care is all that is recommended. If a fully ablative procedure is used, the natural, protective barrier of the skin has been altered, and a post-laser treatment protocol will be recommended. Depending on the exact treatment, laser-specific skin care will be complete in 3-10 days. The skin will need to be treated gently during this period, and becoming overheated should be avoided. Antibiotics and antiviral treatments may be used for deeper treatments. As the healing continues, any prolonged redness or pigmentation is managed with the addition of topical steroids and anti-pigmentation agents, respectively. Once healed, your skin will look great, and we will create a skincare plan to maximize the longevity of your results.
The frequency of laser skin resurfacing treatments will depend on your individual skin concerns and goals, as well as the type of laser used. Some people may only need one treatment, while others may need several treatments spaced out over time to achieve the desired results. In general, laser skin resurfacing treatments are spaced out at four to six weeks intervals. This allows the skin time to heal and for new collagen to be produced, which can help improve the skin's overall appearance. Dr. Brobst will discuss a recommended timeline for you during your consultation.
Insurance does not cover cosmetic procedures like laser skin resurfacing.
Other treatments, such as microdermabrasion and microneedling, claim to achieve similar results to laser skin resurfacing. Still, none of them can match Laser Skin Resurfacing's fast treatment and recuperation timeframes or its long-lasting effects.
