Enhance your most beautiful feature
Blepharoplasty, commonly known as eyelid surgery, is a procedure that addresses the aging signs often prominently visible in the eye area. Often an area of early aging, rejuvenation of the eyes through Blepharoplasty can improve a tired appearance. Upper eyelid procedures focus on removing redundant skin and limiting fat. Ptosis, or drooping of eyelids and eyebrows, can be addressed at the same time. Lower eyelid treatment options include smoothing bags of protruding fat, camouflaging the tear trough, improving dark shadows, and conservatively removing excess skin. These procedures can help enhance the most beautiful facial feature.
Dr. Brobst is a facial plastic surgeon who is board certified and has a strong desire to help people in a setting that is kind and inviting. Because of his talent and passion for aesthetics, he is dedicated to furthering his education in plastic and reconstructive surgery by traversing the country to study under some of the most respected surgeons in the field. By booking a consultation for Blepharoplasty in Plano, McKinney, Frisco or other surrounding areas today, you can learn about the many treatments available to revitalize your eyes.
Blink away the Years
A well-rested, alert, and youthful appearance is the result of eyelid surgery. Vision impairment caused by drooping eyelids can be alleviated, and asymmetry in the eyelids can be corrected. Fewer than ten days of downtime is typical, and few patients experience significant pain or discomfort afterward. Fortunately, the effects of plastic surgery are usually permanent, so your new look will stay for years to come. Anyone who isn't completely satisfied with the way their eyes look might consider blepharoplasty. This may occur as a result of having too much skin, too much fat, or malposition of the eyelids. This procedure may remove years of a person's look and is just as effective for males as it is for women. At our practice in Plano Blepharoplasty is performed by the highly skilled surgeon, Dr. Brobst, offering the desired eyelid enhancement to those living in North Texas.

Tailored Solutions for Upper, Lower, or Both
Not every eyelid ages the same way, which is why Dr. Brobst customizes your procedure to match your anatomy and concerns.
Excess skin on the upper eyelids can lead to a heavy, tired look—and in some cases, even block part of your vision. Upper blepharoplasty removes that redundant skin and tightens the upper lid contour. Many patients notice that their eyes appear brighter and more open, and makeup sits more evenly without smudging or disappearing into the crease. When necessary, this can be combined with ptosis correction to lift the eyelid itself.
Puffiness, under-eye bags, and shadowing are often caused by fat protrusion or loosening of the lower eyelid structures. Lower blepharoplasty addresses these issues by removing or repositioning fat and, when needed, removing a small amount of excess skin. The goal is a smoother, more rested appearance that doesn’t look hollow or overcorrected.
When both the upper and lower eyelids show signs of aging, a quad blepharoplasty can be performed to treat all four lids in one procedure. This comprehensive approach provides balanced, full-eye rejuvenation and may be ideal for patients looking for a more dramatic yet natural improvement. Downtime and healing are similar to single-area surgery, but with the added benefit of cohesive results.
For patients with mild to moderate skin laxity but good eyelid tone and no fat herniation, a pinch blepharoplasty offers a conservative solution. This technique involves removing a small strip of skin near the lash line without entering deeper tissue planes. It’s often used in conjunction with skin resurfacing to refine texture and improve fine lines, all while maintaining a natural eyelid contour.
Subtle Refinement Without Over-Feminizing
Blepharoplasty is one of the most commonly performed procedures in male facial rejuvenation. But success requires a different approach than it does for women.
Dr. Brobst understands how to preserve masculine features while improving heaviness, asymmetry, or tiredness around the eyes. The goal isn’t to feminize—but to reduce distraction, restore energy, and respect your baseline anatomy.

Smart Prep for Smooth Recovery
In the weeks leading up to your surgery, we’ll give you a personalized prep plan tailored to your health history and the specifics of your procedure. That said, there are a few essentials that make a big difference no matter your case. Medications and supplements that thin the blood—like aspirin, NSAIDs, fish oil, or vitamin E—should be stopped ahead of time to minimize bleeding risk. Smoking cessation is also non-negotiable, as nicotine directly interferes with your body’s ability to heal. On the logistics side, arrange for a ride home and a responsible adult to stay with you the first night. At home, set up a recovery space with soft lighting, cold compresses, lubricating eye drops, and a few days’ worth of easy meals. The more you plan ahead, the smoother your first 48 hours will feel.
Bright-Eyed
At our location in Plano Blepharoplasty can be performed under local anesthesia, but occasionally sedation or general anesthesia is desired. Upper eyelids are improved through an incision that is hidden in the eyelid crease. This allows for improvement in skin redundancy and eyelid position (ptosis). Position alone can be improved with an internal eyelid incision. For improvement of the lower lids, both internal and external incisions are possible.
External incisions are typically best to treat excess skin and fat and correct lower lid malposition/laxity. Internal incisions are best when a fat herniation is the sole problem. An internal incision blepharoplasty is frequently paired with laser resurfacing or chemical peels to optimize mild skin laxity and fine lines. Tear trough correction is performed by fat transposition or fat grafting as needed. Our technique focuses on precision, symmetry, and maximizing results without compromising functions such as dry eye or closing difficulties. Once both sides are completed, ointment and cool gel packs are applied. After awakening from anesthesia and confirming your comfort, you will be able to go home in the care of a responsible adult.
The Perfect Pair
The morning after your Blepharoplasty, the eyes are checked to make sure healing is progressing as desired. A single suture is occasionally removed, and aftercare is reviewed. Swelling is normal and responds well to a cool compress, head elevation, and light activity. Pain is not part of the recovery. Lubrication is imperative, and a combination of drops and ointment is utilized. After 1 week, all sutures have been removed, and most bruising and swelling is gone from the face.
Eye makeup can be worn 10 days after the blepharoplasty procedure. With the exception of heavy lifting, normal activities can be restarted after 2 weeks. Unless the lower eyelid position was corrected, contact lens wear can also be restarted at this point. Patients flying in for their operation should make arrangements to stay in town for a week. Swelling continues to improve over the first month.
NATURAL RADIANCE
You can expect to see noticeable improvements shortly after the blepharoplasty procedure, with final results becoming apparent as swelling subsides. Your eyes will appear more alert and youthful, providing a natural enhancement to your overall facial appearance.
We will schedule your follow-up appointments for your Blepharoplasty to ensure that your healing is progressing the way it should. Dr. Brobst is here to answer any questions or concerns and make sure you stay looking and feeling your best. Schedule your consultation today to get to know Bo.
What to Expect—and How We Minimize It
All surgeries carry some risk, but when performed by an experienced facial plastic surgeon, blepharoplasty complications are rare. Minor bruising, swelling, or temporary dryness are the most common short-term effects.
More uncommon concerns—such as asymmetry, prolonged swelling, visible scarring, or lid malposition—are mitigated by Dr. Brobst’s precise surgical planning and post-op monitoring. Most issues, if they occur, are temporary and can be managed conservatively. During your consultation, we’ll walk through the full safety profile specific to your anatomy and medical history.
When You’re Not Ready for Surgery (Yet)
For early signs of aging or patients not ready for surgery, non-surgical options can offer meaningful improvement.
While these options won’t replace the structural correction of surgery, they can buy time—or complement a future blepharoplasty plan.

Which One Do You Need?
When patients come in asking whether they need a brow lift or eyelid surgery, the answer depends entirely on where the heaviness begins. If the eyebrows have descended, pressing the skin downward and causing a fold or hood over the eye, a brow lift may be more appropriate. On the other hand, if the issue is limited to excess skin, volume, or wrinkling around the eyelids themselves, blepharoplasty typically offers the best result.
In many cases, both areas contribute—and that’s when a combination approach makes the most sense. A brow lift can elevate the overall brow contour, while blepharoplasty fine-tunes the skin and fat around the eyes for a clean, refreshed upper third. Dr. Brobst will map this out during your consultation, tailoring the approach to your facial anatomy and what you want to achieve.
When the Eyes Are Just the Start
Because eyelid aging rarely happens in isolation, many patients choose to combine blepharoplasty with other procedures:
Combination surgery can save on downtime, anesthesia exposure, and long-term costs—while ensuring your results look seamless and balanced.

INVEST IN YOURSELF
The cost of Blepharoplasty varies based on the complexity of your procedure and whether it involves the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. During your consultation, Dr. Brobst will provide a detailed breakdown of all associated costs.
While cosmetic Blepharoplasty is typically not covered by insurance, if the procedure is performed to improve vision by removing excess skin, it may be partially covered. We offer flexible payment options to help you achieve your aesthetic goals.
The overall appearance of your eye will improve with Blepharoplasty. In addition, the size appears larger and more room for makeup is present. As for the actual position of the eyelids, this is not intentionally altered except when upper eyelid ptosis or laxity/malposition of the lower eyelid is corrected for during the procedure.
Lasers can tighten the skin slightly but do not actually remove excess eyelid skin as performed in a blepharoplasty. These procedures can be performed independently, but the results of each are complementary. In a similar manner, chemical peels are often used for the same effect as laser but may have some additional beneficial properties for patients.
Blepharoplasty may be covered by insurance if it is performed to correct vision problems caused by drooping eyelids. However, if the surgery is purely cosmetic, it is unlikely to be covered. It’s best to check with your insurance provider for specific coverage details.
The blepharoplasty surgery typically takes between 1 to 3 hours, depending on whether you’re having upper, lower, or both eyelids treated. Dr. Brobst will discuss the specifics of your procedure during your consultation.
In most cases, no. Incisions are hidden in the natural eyelid crease (for upper lids) or placed internally or just beneath the lash line (for lower lids). Over time, these incisions fade significantly and are difficult to detect.
Yes, options like Botox, dermal fillers, and laser resurfacing can address early signs of eyelid aging, but they won’t remove excess skin or fat. For more advanced changes, surgery is the definitive treatment.
There’s no set age. Some patients benefit in their 30s or 40s due to genetics, while others wait until their 50s or beyond. As long as you’re healthy and have realistic goals, age is just one factor.
Most patients report very little pain—more pressure and tightness than anything else. Post-op discomfort is mild and well-managed with over-the-counter or prescribed medication.
