Opening the eyes. Erasing the fatigue
You log eight solid hours of sleep and feel completely energized. Then you catch your reflection in the rearview mirror on the Dallas North Tollway. Heavy upper eyelids and bulging under-eye fat are casting a permanent shadow of exhaustion across your face. Sleep cannot fix a structural problem. Dr. Robert "Bo" Brobst performs blepharoplasty to resolve this exact anatomical disconnect. By precisely removing the weight and resetting the tissue, he ensures your eyes tell the truth about how you actually feel.
Enhance your most beautiful feature
Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is a cosmetic surgery procedure that removes excess skin, muscle, and displaced fat from the upper or lower eyelids. By correcting drooping eyelids and under-eye bags, the surgeon restores a rested appearance without altering the natural, inherent shape of your eye.

The Fatigue Miscommunication
You sleep eight hours a night. You maintain a demanding but healthy lifestyle. Yet, when you catch your reflection in a window at The Star or look in the mirror before a meeting, the face staring back looks exhausted. The eyes are the primary focal point of human interaction. When the tissue around them sags or bulges, it sends a false signal of fatigue or sadness to everyone you meet.
There is a frustrating disconnect between how you feel inside and your outward appearance.
Many patients in Frisco, TX, try to solve this with expensive eye creams or excessive concealer. These topical solutions cannot fix a structural problem. Eyelid aging is an anatomical shift. The thin skin loses elasticity, and the fibrous wall holding your orbital fat in place weakens, allowing fat pads to bulge forward.
Dr. Robert "Bo" Brobst addresses these root causes directly. As a double board-certified specialist in facial plastic surgery, his approach to cosmetic eyelid surgery is rooted in restraint. The goal is never to change the character of your eyes. We want to align your exterior with your internal energy, creating youthful eyes that look completely natural.
From Dr. Bo:
"Twenty years ago, the standard plastic surgery approach to the eyes was entirely subtractive. Surgeons would take out as much fat and skin as possible. That technique left patients looking hollowed out, skeletal, and older.
Today, we understand that volume is the hallmark of a youthful appearance. When I perform a lower blepharoplasty, I rarely remove all the fat. Instead, I reposition it. I take the bulging excess fat and slide it down into the tear trough (the hollow circle under the eye). This smooths the transition from the eyelid to the cheek. You get a seamless, bright under-eye without the hollow, sunken look."
Tailored Correction
The eyelids age differently. Depending on your anatomy, you may need to address the top, the bottom, or both simultaneously to achieve a truly rested appearance.
Gravity and repetitive muscle movement cause the upper eyelid skin to stretch. Eventually, this loose skin folds over the natural fold of the eye, resting on the eyelashes. In severe cases of droopy eyelids, this excess upper eyelid skin can actually obstruct your peripheral vision.
The lower eyelids are plagued by bags and dark circles. This puffy appearance is typically caused by orbital fat herniating forward as the supporting tissues weaken.
The Process
Blepharoplasty is one of the most universally applicable facial plastic surgery procedures. It benefits both men and women, often starting in their late 30s or early 40s when genetic predispositions for under-eye puffiness begin to show. You are a good candidate if you have experience:
During your private consultation at our Plano office, Dr. Bo will evaluate your facial anatomy. He will specifically check the position of your eyebrows. If your heavy eyelids are actually caused by a descending brow, a brow lift may be the correct recommendation instead of, or in addition to, an eyelid lift.
The Surgical Experience
Your safety and comfort dictate our surgical plan. Blepharoplasty is an outpatient surgery. If you are only having upper eyelid surgery, this can often be comfortably performed in our office using local anesthesia and a mild oral sedative. You remain awake but completely relaxed and numb. If you are undergoing lower eyelid surgery or having both the upper and lower lids addressed simultaneously, we typically utilize deep IV sedation or general anesthesia in our fully accredited surgery center. This ensures you are perfectly still and comfortable while Dr. Bo works near the delicate structures of the eye.
The Timeline
The eyelid skin is the thinnest on the body. It heals remarkably fast, but it also bruises easily. We provide a detailed aftercare protocol to minimize complications and speed up your return to normal life.
You will experience swelling and bruising. The eyes may feel tight, sensitive, and watery. Pain is minimal, and most patients only require over-the-counter Tylenol after the first 24 hours. To reduce swelling, you must apply cold compresses diligently and keep your head elevated (even while sleeping) for the first few days. Mild light sensitivity is normal; wear dark sunglasses if you need to step outside.
If you have external incisions (from the upper lids or a skin pinch on the lower lid), we remove the fine sutures in the office. The bruising will have transitioned to a yellowish hue that is easily camouflaged.
By day 10, Frisco patients are typically back to their normal routines—running errands, attending meetings, or dining out. Women can resume wearing eye makeup, which easily conceals any faint residual pinkness along the upper crease. Contact lenses should be avoided for two weeks to prevent pulling on the healing tissue.
Complete Rejuvenation Rejuvenation
While an eyelid lift physically removes skin and fat, it does not stop the skin from wrinkling or completely halt the aging process. For the most comprehensive result, we often combine blepharoplasty with other procedures.
Investment
We provide clear, upfront pricing because nobody likes medical billing surprises. The cost of your surgery is dictated by the complexity of the surgical plan.
Your quote will depend on whether we are addressing the upper or lower eyelids (or both), the type of anesthesia required, and facility fees. Because we understand that cosmetic surgery is a significant investment in yourself, we offer various financing options through trusted partners like CareCredit and PatientFi. When performed by a specialist, eyelid surgery provides incredibly long-lasting results. The fat removed from the lower lids rarely returns, meaning you can enjoy your refreshed look for a decade or more.

Insurance only covers upper eyelid surgery if the drooping skin severely impairs your visual field. This requires a formal visual field test conducted by an optometrist or ophthalmologist. Lower eyelid surgery is always considered cosmetic.
It depends on the cause. If your dark circles are shadows cast by bulging fat pads, surgery will eliminate them. If the darkness is caused by pigmentation in the skin itself, surgery will not change the color. We often recommend medical-grade skincare for pigment issues.
Temporary dryness is common as the eyelids heal and puffiness subsides. We recommend specific lubricating eye drops to keep the eyes comfortable. For patients with a pre-existing history of severe dry eye, Dr. Bo will adjust his surgical technique to be highly conservative, prioritizing function over aesthetics.
You must avoid strenuous activity, heavy lifting, and bending over for at least two to three weeks. Elevating your blood pressure too soon can cause bleeding and prolong your swelling.
No. Dr. Brobst uses precise techniques to ensure the lower lid is not pulled downward (a complication known as ectropion). The goal is to remove the bag, not alter the almond shape or natural contour of your eye.
