Balance and Correct

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable implants that providers place into or under your skin to make it look more voluminous and smooth. As early as our 20s, repetitive movement along with damaged collagen begins to manifest as wrinkles and fine lines. Moreover, volume loss becomes apparent as hollowing of the cheeks, under the eyes, and areas around the mouth. These processes are highly influenced by genetics, lifestyle, environment, and age. With Dermal Fillers Plano patients can experience heightened confidence in their appearance by achieving smoother lines and restoring volume in areas affected by various causes, helping you look and feel your best.

You’ve Got Options

There are many different options available for facial fillers. These range from permanent to temporary, but we prefer the latter for their safety and reversibility. The Juvederm and Restylane families of dermal filler products are both used to add volume and fullness to the skin. They are both made from hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body and helps to add volume and hydration to the skin. Our bodies have natural enzymes to break down our own hyaluronic acid, and similarly, they can break down the more crosslinked forms of hyaluronic acid that make up this filler. This is foundational and important to understand as these products will naturally dissolve over time and can be actively reversed if desired with an enzyme solution if needed.

Differences between Juvederm and Restylane include the molecular structure and crosslinking, which affect how they lift, fold, fill, and resist absorption. The wide range of products that have been formulated allows for regionally specialized treatments that take advantage of the characteristics that make each one unique. The one dermal filler for everything model of treatment is long gone. properties specialized

What to Expect

Dermal Filler Preparation and Procedure

Treatments begin with a review and rehash of the treatment plan. We obtain pre-treatment photos and answer questions, review the technique, discuss comfort measures, and cover consent. After allowing time for pretreatment comfort measures, we clean and sterilize the skin. We then initiate dermal filler placement through direct and/or microcannula techniques while utilizing in-treatment comfort measures. Procedures are completed in 15 min to 1 hour, depending on the treatment plan details.

Post-treatment recovery is minimal and is largely dictated by treatment-related comfort measures. Associated anesthetic options can cause brief or prolonged numbness in a treatment area. Swelling, redness, soreness, or injection site bruising are also possible but are only common in certain treatment areas like the lips. Conservative measures of cold compresses and OTC acetaminophen are the most effective. Avoiding strenuous activity, limiting alcohol consumption, protecting the treatment area from manipulation/ trauma, and ceasing aspirin, fish oil, and NSAIDs can help as well.

Maintaining Your Remarkable Dermal Filler Results

Recovery after dermal filler treatment is pretty easy, but we are here to help you get the most from your treatment. Any concerns about your healing, results, or unusual symptoms should be brought to our attention immediately so we can guide you and ensure your positive outcome. Fillers have a general lifespan based on the type and location.

Some people may need to come in for touch-up treatments or retreatment sooner than this, depending on the specific product used and the individual's needs. In general, it is recommended to wait at least one week to recheck your face following filler injections to allow for any swelling to resolve. Dermal filler treatments are typically designed to last for several months to years. However, the exact duration can vary depending on the specific filler used, the treated area, and the individual's skin and metabolism. Once we achieve the desired result, we will often check the area at three to approximately six months between treatments to confirm you are still happy with the improvement and looking your best.
